Music can be distributed on many different Online UCG content platforms and can be easily found through systems like recommendations (Long tail theory), as on-demand platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud are used by millions of people around the world. In addition, platforms like Youtube and TikTok can create trends and push music out.
1c) Explain 2 ways that social media can be linked to the change between the traditional and digital global distribution of media products
1- Web 2.0 allows people to share, which means more people can access the product. This can link to the long tail theory as new technologies allow people to decide how many media products they want to access.
2- Globalisation means that products can be distributed on a global scale. This allows more people to access the brands and companies and therefore gives more money to the companies, which then boosts the economies of countries.
3- Companies choose social media as products are more accessible and quicker to access.
